Two people were killed and two were injured in a late-night crash in Weld County on Tuesday, according to a press release from the Colorado State Patrol.
Troopers from CSP and deputies from the Weld County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash around 11:11 p.m. on Tuesday.
The crash took place on Weld County Road 33, just south of Highway 392.
Investigators said preliminary information suggests that a Lincoln MKC was traveling southbound on Weld County Road 33 before failing to stop at a stop sign on Highway 392.
The vehicle drove off the right side of the road and struck a fence before going airborne off a dirt embankment and crashing into a large tree, and eventually landing back on the right side of the road.
The driver, identified as a 22-year-old woman from Kansas City, was pronounced dead at the scene. One of the passengers, a 19-year-old man from Arkansas City, Kansas, was also pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators could not determine the age of another passenger, whom they described as a juvenile male, and said he was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. A third passenger, another juvenile male whose age is unknown, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The Weld County Coroner will identify the victims after the next of kin is notified.
CSP is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact them at 303-239-4500.
